PRESCHOOL AND INFANT-TODDLER CHILDCARE Over the years, KOKA has expanded to provide culturally grounded, family engagement, and school readiness support in six preschool classrooms in Ma’ili, Kapolei, Pālolo, and Kāne’ohe, and one classroom in Lahaina. To support working families with infants and toddlers, KOKA provides loving, high-quality childcare with two infant-toddler centers in Ma’ili and Kailua and soon, an infant-toddler center on Kaua’i. Keiki O Ka ʻĀina Preschools and Infant/Toddler Centers implement a Hawaiian-based, culturally grounded creative curriculum. The program integrates Montessori activities and interweaves Hawaiian language, values, and cultural principles. Our approach is also aligned with the guidelines set by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) for developmentally appropriate practices. Both the preschool and infant/toddler centers use the Hawaii State Early Learning and Developmental Standards (HELDS) as a framework for focusing our program and assessment design.
