By Kip Carlson It’s a whole new ballgame — and every other sort of athletic contest — since defections whittled the Pac-12 Conference down to just two members.As two does not a conference schedule make, Oregon State and Washington State will align with a variety of other conferences, as well as compete in some sports as independents.What does this all mean for fans trying to follow their favorite sports? The Pac 12 Network, where many games were televised, shut down at midnight on June 30. This year, home football games will be broadcast for national audiences on the CW Network and Fox Sports. SPORT BY SPORT Conference: Pac-12/Mountain West Conference Affiliation level: OSU and WSU have a scheduling agreement with the MWC; the two teams are not eligible for the MWC championship. Postseason: Can qualify for 12-team college football playoff and bowl games. Conference: West Coast Conference Affiliation level: Full member, eligible to win conference championship. Postseason: Can earn automatic berth by winning conference title or being selected as an at-large team. Conference: Pac-12 Affiliation level: Full member; eligible to win conference championship. Postseason: Conference will be allocated a number of individual automatic qualifiers to the NCAA Championships. Conference: West Coast Conference Affiliation level: Full member, eligible to win regular season and tournament championships. Postseason: Can earn automatic berth by winning conference title or being selected as an at-large team. Conference: West Coast Conference Affiliation level: Full member; eligible to win conference championship meet. Postseason: Top two teams in NCAA Regional meet qualify for NCAA Championships, along with 15 at-large teams. Postseason: Can earn automatic berth by winning conference title or being selected as an at-large team. THE CONFERENCE LANDSCAPE The Pac-12 can exist as a two-school conference for two years. To continue as a recognized conference beyond that, it must expand to at least eight schools.
