SPENCER REYNOLDS Artist and owner of Semi Aquatic Gallery When artist Spencer Reynolds returned to his South Coast hometown of Brookings after a 17-year stint away, the idea of opening an art gallery was not on his mind. But when he saw a downtown building that had been sitting empty for a couple of years, he decided to reach out to the building owner. Soon after, Semi Aquatic Gallery was born. “I wanted a space to showcase my art and create unique items that locals and tourists alike could only find here,” says Reynolds. Today the gallery is just that. Visitors can pick up Reynolds’ semi-abstract, colorful prints and merchandise featuring his work, along with creations by other artists and makers. “It feels great to support other small businesses, to have a permanent venue for my creations and to contribute a unique cultural space to my small community,” he says. “I’m proud to add something special to my hometown.” Learn more at ArtAndSurf.com.
