VISUAL ARTS In Astoria’s historic downtown district, RiverSea Gallery features evocative works by artists in a variety of mediums from painting and printmaking to ceramics and jewelry making. Join other art lovers during Astoria’s monthly Second Saturday Artwalk. At Shearwater Studio & Gallery in Cannon Beach, you might find Drea Rose Frost painting expressive seascapes in her pocket studio. She also shows a collection of regional and local artists. PERFORMING ARTS The century-old Liberty Theatre in Astoria features a rich lineup of live music and theater in the heart of downtown. In addition to performances by local groups like the North Coast Symphonic Band or Columbia River Symphony, the historic theater brings renowned regional and national artists to the stage. Ten Fifteen Productions, a nearby nonprofit theater, features modern and edgy productions along with creative education and community events. At the Charlene Larsen Center for the Performing Arts — set in a historic church that dates back to the 1900s, with a 100-year-old pipe organ — you can enjoy classical concerts by the North Oregon Coast Symphony. In Cannon Beach, the cozy Coaster Theatre Playhouse hosts plays in a remodeled 1920s roller rink.
