Highway 101 goes down the length of the Coast from Astoria to Brookings. By Train/Bus: If you are arriving via train, Amtrak Cascades connects to several cities on the Coast via bus service. See AmtrakOregon.com for more details. These routes include round-trip travel to/from Portland (Astoria, Cannon Beach and Tillamook), Salem (Lincoln City), Albany (Newport) and Eugene (Yachats and Florence). For more information about public transportation on the North and Central coasts, see NW Connector (NWConnector.org) and Coastal Express for routes from Coos Bay to Brookings on the Southern Coast (CurryPublicTransit.org). Road Conditions: For up-to-date information on road and weather conditions on the Oregon Coast, including helpful webcams, visit the Oregon Department of Transportation’s TripCheck website (TripCheck.com). ELECTRIC VEHICLE TRAVEL As a leader in sustainable travel, Oregon has one of the largest networks of EV-charging stations in the country. The same holds true on the Oregon Coast, where drivers can access a growing network of over 200 charging stations, none more than 50 miles (80 km) apart. The Oregon Coast Electric Byway takes some of the guesswork out of planning, with a three-day itinerary originating in Portland, then traversing the entire Coast from Astoria to Brookings, with sightseeing and charging options along the way. For a shorter loop, the North Oregon Coast Electric Byway starts in Portland and travels along the Columbia River to Astoria, then south to Lincoln City. The return trip winds through Willamette Valley wine country. Find more information about these byways at TravelOregon.com. To plan your EV travels on the Coast, see our guide at VisitTheOregonCoast.com/Electric-Vehicle-Travel. For updates on available charging locations, go to PlugShare.com or download the app for an interactive map.
