www.AlaskaMiners.org 31 Legislature Candidates Guide from that position last December so I could devote my full energies to running for the HD-22 seat. When not working, my wife and I enjoy everything about our great Alaskan outdoors. Notably, I especially enjoy training and hunting our young Labrador Retriever, Seamus, who is taking over from our Stella. I recognize the value of mining and the natural resources it brings to market, especially its large impact on the Alaskan economy. As I often told my students, “if you can’t grow it you have to mine it.” Alaska not only has a long history of mining, but with emerging technologies requiring key minerals our state is poised to provide the critical materials that make our nation stronger and more independent. In Alaska we have the expertise and the experience to mine our abundant natural resources responsibly. That’s why I support our state’s mining industry and the important role it plays. Mining is more than an economic force here, it's a cultural tradition. If elected my priorities will be to focus on our infrastructure, economy (jobs-jobs-jobs), and education. Of interest is that I have a MS degree in the Earth Sciences. You can learn more about me at my website: https://TedForAlaska.com Stanley Wright My name is Stanley Wright, and I proudly represent the people of District 22 in the Alaska State Legislature, a role that stems from my deep commitment to serving our state and its people. My journey in Alaska began in 2006 when I moved here with my high school sweetheart, Shayné, to raise our family. After serving honorably in the United States Navy during Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom, I returned to Alaska, where I earned my degree in business administration from UAA. My career has been dedicated to public service, from working as a special assistant to the Governor to serving as the Senior Policy Advisor for the Department of Military and Veterans Affairs, and then working as the Community Systems Manager for the Municipality of Anchorage, helping families secure stable housing. Outside of my professional responsibilities, I engage in community service by volunteering at local soup kitchens and mentoring young men. In my role as a state representative, I stand firmly in support of resource development and mining in our great state. The rich natural resources we possess are not just commodities; they are the lifeblood of our economy. From the very beginning, Alaska’s resource industry has been the cornerstone of our growth and prosperity. It has built our infrastructure, funded over 90% of government services, established our Permanent Fund, and generated jobs and opportunities for Alaskans. Industries such as oil and gas, mining, and fishing are crucial to our state's economy and can continue to thrive with the right support. What Alaska needs is strong leadership to remove the barriers that have been created by Democrats that hinder responsible resource development. Currently, we face over 52,000 pages of regulations that are stifling progress. I am committed to streamlining these processes to unlock new wealth for our state. As we look to the future, we must continue to advocate for responsible resource development. By fostering a robust mining industry, we can stimulate growth, attract investments, and generate revenue that can be reinvested in our schools, infrastructure, and vital public services. It’s time for us to embrace our potential and push forward, ensuring that Alaska remains a leader in resource development. Together, we can build an even brighter future for Alaska, driven by the strength of our natural resources. I’m running again to provide our community with experienced, effective, and energetic leadership in Juneau. I followed my dream North to Alaska 36 years ago to cover resources as an Anchorage Times reporter. When the paper folded, I began a career working for pro-development Republican legislators, DNR commissioners and governors, before getting elected myself. As a long-time member of the Resources Committee, I’ve been proud to support responsible development in ANWR and NPRA, advocate for the state’s mineral industry, and defend against anti-development forces at the state and national levels. My proudest legislative achievements include: n supporting the SB 21 oil tax reform bill that reversed declining Prudhoe Bay production n letting sportsmen keep hunting and fishing licenses on their smartphones n creating a veteran’s driver’s license designation n authorizing personal savings accounts for disabled Alaskans and ensuring insurance coverage for autism services n meeting fiscal shortfalls by cutting the budget, not imposing taxes This last session, I sponsored and supported bills directing the state to produce a comprehensive strategy to support exploration and production of our vast critical and strategic mineral resources. Mining made us a state and is key to Alaska’s current and future prosperity. My priorities are my constituents’ priorities. So, next session I’ll keep working: n to secure reliable sources of energy for the Railbelt n to strengthen and extend the transportation infrastructure that undergirds our economy n to attract, develop and retain a well-educated workforce in every segment of our economy n to support effective and innovative schools and teachers n to practice budget discipline to make sure we get the “best bang for the buck” n to advocate for Alaska’s military, veterans, and their families While I have no challenger in this election, as a state we all face many challenges. I’m eager to keep working to meet them and would be grateful for your support. HOUSE DISTRICT 25, PALMER/BUTTE NOTE: Delena Johnson did not submit a profile House District 26, Goose Bay/Gateway Cathy Tilton I am a lifelong Alaskan who grew up in Anchorage and have lived in the MatSu for more than 40 years. I have worked in local government, the private sector, and staffed in the legislature. As a small business owner I understand the high cost of doing business (energy, healthcare, taxation) and the effects of overburdensome regulations and complicated permitting processes. Over the last five terms, I have served as Chair of the Community and Regional Affairs Committee, two terms as a member of the House Finance Committee, the House Minority Leader and am currently the Speaker of the House. I am a strong advocate for developing the resources that Alaska has to offer as our Constitution mandates. I believe development of our oil and gas, mining, timber, fish, and tourism (to name a few) are the keys to the future of Alaska. Because our economy is being threatened by outside influences such as the federal government and environmental groups, we must streamline regulations and permitting processes while maintaining world-class standards. As we feed the world’s need for critical minerals, mining and resource development will continue to be the backbone of Alaska’s economy. We must continue identifying, exploring, and developing our resources. It will not only provide revenue and jobs but great opportunities for our children and grandchildren. HOUSE DISTRICT 27, WASILLA/MEADOW LAKES NOTE: David Eastman did not submit a profile Jubilee Underwood I am a lifelong Valley resident. My goal has and always will be, making sure I do my part in contributing to the economic health and prosperity of the place. I am proud to call home for not only my current community members, but for the generations to come. This Valley has been the place I was not only raised but am currently raising my own family. I am strongly passionate about continuing to have our voices heard, both locally and at the state level. I will listen and I will act. Serving as a School Board representative for the last 3 years, I am proud of the work we have done to make not only taxpayer’s voices, but parental rights be at the forefront. My accomplishments include protecting girls’ sports (as per BP6145), ending COVID Mandates, exiting a non-transparent insurance provider, building two schools debt-free, keeping boys & girls in their own bathrooms (as per BP6145), and creating a citizen library advisory group to make sure criminally indecent content is not accessible in our school libraries and to also make sure age-appropriate books are located in their respected places. My educational priorities include advocating for parental choice with education, empowering students with career skills, higher learning, and certifications for lifelong success, and support for initiatives for hands-on workforce skills in schools. I support following the law of providing a constitutional PFD, and fiscal responsibility including diversification of income sources for a balanced budget, promotion of sustainable growth in the Mat-Su through responsible resource development, and NO NEW TAXES. I will fight to ensure that our Veterans, Military, and First Responders receive the support services they need and deserve. HOUSE DISTRICT 28, TANAINA/LAKES Elexie Moore I’m a lifelong Alaskan.
