Chris Chambers, playing in a Canadian baseball league, began contemplating his career path. It was during his time playing baseball in Canada that he met his wife, Kelsey, who would later become his partner in both life and business. His great-grandfather, Al Davies, founded Redwood City’s Davies Appliance in 1934. Al’s legacy continued when his grandparents, Joe and Virginia, took over the operation. “My grandfather Joe, who passed away in July 2021, called me one day in 2009 and suggested I try selling home appliances,” Chris recalls. “I came back home, and within just a few months, he was testing me to see if it would be a good fit. From the start, I found myself passionate about it, and I took immense pride in continuing the family legacy. It didn’t take long to grasp the fundamentals, and the business really took off. Joe taught me the importance of building relationships, which is the cornerstone of Davies. That customer-first mentality was something he instilled in me.” In 2014, Chris and Kelsey took over the family business, modernizing it for the present day. They upgraded the showroom and added a Fremont showroom. Despite these changes, they have remained committed to the timeless values that have defined the business for nearly a century. “We focus on treating each customer based on their unique needs,” Chris explains. “That’s why we’ve lasted 90 years, while others have fallen victim to the impersonal nature of big box stores.” DAVIES APPLIANCE 1580 El Camino Real, Redwood City 650.366.5728 | chris@daviesappliance.com daviesappliance.com The Davies Family 4 Generations, Davies Appliance
