It is often a favorite material for small construction projects like deck railings. Our posts are designed and reinforced specifically to handle the tension of cable infill and are covered with a powder coat that helps prevent corrosion. For this reason, our aluminum systems remain a customer favorite and are the best option for most cable railing applications. The powder coat is available in five color options. CARE: Wipe down as needed. If any color gets scratched off during installation or use, we offer touch-up paint for each powder coat color. We also recommend using the touch-up paint to coat any fresh cuts or holes in the posts, to minimize the possibility of corrosion. PREMIUM WOOD Wood is a classic construction material that offers a unique rustic aesthetic. It is naturally recyclable and rust-free. Our wood options are strong and dense, allowing them to withstand cable tension. We offer exotic and domestic woods in a range of pigments for full systems or as top rails for metal posts. Our top rails are high-grade and handpicked from our local supplier, while our post options are uniquely engineered for additional strength and visual consistency. All of our wood offerings are sustainably harvested. CARE: Though these wood varieties are durable, we recommend using protective deeppenetrating oil treatments (available through our online store) to preserve their color and appearance. Treatments can be skipped, if desired, so the wood naturally fades to a silver hue. Staining or painting are also options available with this material type. STAINLESS STEEL Stainless Steel is a more dense metal that boasts not only superior strength, but breathtaking beauty. Marine Grade 316 is the most lustrous and corrosion-resistant grade of stainless steel, offering a stronger passive layer to protect the steel from staining. This durable material is the standard for marine applications and is the same metal used for the cable infill of cable railing systems. It is naturally resistant to bending and corrosion. Due to its strength, beauty, and resilience, stainless steel has become an increasingly popular option for cable railing applications, especially where superior durability and luster are desired. Round and square shapes are available. CARE: Wipe down as needed. Use passivation solution for deep cleaning and to reinforce the passive layer. Use regularly and as needed to protect it from corrosion. Increase frequency in corrosive environments.

24 | 877.560.9545 | STAINLESSCABLERAILING.COM When stainless steel cables and hardware come into contact with exposed aluminum components, the dissimilar metals interact with each other, resulting in galvanic corrosion. The best way to prevent this type of corrosion is through keeping the two metals separate, which is part of the reason we powder-coat all of our aluminum products. We also dip-spin the screws included with our base plates in brush-on electrical tape to prevent corrosion within the post screw chases. To further ensure these metals stay out of contact, we have developed specialized products for our customers. Our screw covers are composed of three pieces that snap together around any post-mounting bolt or lag. They completely envelope each part of the screw that would otherwise come into contact with the aluminum base plate or post. Order 4 covers per base plate or 2 per fascia-mounted post. In addition to the incidental touching-up of any scratches or nicks acquired during installation, our touch-up paint also doubles as a brush-on isolator. After cutting the ends of your aluminum posts or drilling holes, coat the fresh edges with touch-up paint to cover the raw aluminum and seal the protective paint layer. There are three options for handrail use: inline, stair, and stand-alone. The inline handrail runs between posts in a straight or curved flat run. The stair rail runs continuously between the first and last post of a stair section, supported by handrail saddle brackets on the posts in between. The standalone option is typically mounted to a wall, but can also be mounted to the sides of posts at a slightly lower height than the top rail. Alternatively, the inline and stair options can be used as support rails. They will bear the tension of the cable infill and provide a flat surface for the wood to be mounted on. This prevents sagging, especially for thinner wood rails, and allows for easy top rail replacement. The material is also corrosion-resistant, making it ideal for outdoor applications in marine environments.
