It houses a world-class collection of minerals, rocks, fossils, meteorites, and gems. The main building is listed on the National Register of Historic Places for its unique mid-century modern style, natural stonework, and use of myrtlewood and quilted maple throughout. With a variety show approach, each evening brings something different through screenings, performances and interactive programs. The Tomorrow Theater is a space where at least two art forms — and a range of audience members — collide for a unique experience each night. END OF THE OREGON TRAIL INTERPRETIVE CENTER 1726 Washington St., Oregon City 503.657.9336, HistoricOregonCity.org Experience history at the End of the Oregon Trail through engaging displays made in partnership with the Confederated Tribes of the Grand Ronde, along with the use of pioneer journals and artifacts to tell the story of westward migration in the words of those who lived it. Exhibits are interactive, including feature films, all ages scavenger hunt, period games, historic costumes, crafts such as candle dipping and doll making, and skills including Chinook language and animal track identification. Also on site are the state and county welcome center, OSU Master Gardeners’ Heritage Garden and an interpretive trail around Abernathy Green, where many new arrivals spent their first winter in Oregon.
