COBURG Just across the McKenzie River from Eugene and Springfield, tranquil Coburg sits surrounded by Willamette Valley farmland. Its downtown boasts a National Historic District with more than 20 elegant homes viewable on a selfguided walking tour. Coburg’s abundant antique shops offer a fantastic collection of one-of-a-kind finds. At the annual Coburg Antique and Vintage Fair, typically held in September, more than 100 vendors display their treasures. Stop in at Coburg Greenhouse, home to a handful of family-friendly food carts, or Chiefs Brew House, a brewery that specializes in experimental small-batch beer. For coffee, Blue Valley Bistro’s lively community hangout can’t be beat. Nearby Armitage Park hosts the riverside Crilly Nature Trail and is the southernmost trailhead for the Willamette Valley Scenic Bikeway, a popular 134-mile (216-km) route through the farms, fields and small towns of the valley. RV campers can choose among Eugene Kamping World RV Park, Premier RV Resorts of Eugene and other comfortable spots around town. JUNCTION CITY Just north of Eugene, the farming community of Junction City honors its Scandinavian roots each year with folk dances, presentations and traditional foods at the Scandinavian Festival. The Camas Country Mill — located on a thirdgeneration wheat farm — grinds locally grown grains and sells freshly baked loaves, flours and whole grains. With over 30 local vendors in one location, shoppers love browsing antiques, vintage furniture, crafts, soaps and gifts at The Courtyard on Sixth in downtown Junction City. Wine lovers sip their way through a string of vineyards and tasting rooms here — High Pass Winery, Brigadoon Wine Company, Walnut Ridge Vineyard, Benton-Lane Winery, RainSong Vineyard, Bennett Vineyards & Wine Company and Five Fourteen Vineyards. Play a round of golf at Diamond Woods Golf Course, considered one of the state’s top golf getaways.
