This is a fun and entertaining way to learn about the unique history of Chelan and when current buildings were originally built. Lake Chelan Historical Society ChelanMuseum.com BIRD WATCHING There are several places in the Lake Chelan Valley to be included on the Audubon Society‘s Washington state bird trail map, available on Audubon.org. Chelan Ridge Counts typically range between 2,000-3,000 migrants of up to 17 species per season from August 23-October 27. The most commonly seen species are the Sharp-shinned Hawk, Red-tailed Hawk, Cooper’s Hawk, Northern Harrier, Golden Eagle, and American Kestrel. Lake Chelan State Park Watch for varieties of Thrushes, Nuthatches, Twohees and Woodpeckers fall through spring. Also keep your eyes peeled along the lake for Loons, Grebes and Buffleheads. Riverwalk Park Discover Goldfinches, Warblers and Swallows spring through summer. Fall and winter provide Loons, Kingfishers and Grebes. Solitaires migrate through in spring and fall. Stehekin/Lake Chelan National Recreation Area Sightings all year here. Warblers, Hummingbirds, Thrushes, Nighthawk, Goldeneye and Vireo, to name a few!
