While most of Kodiak’s population resides in the city and nearby areas, there are villages in the Kodiak Archipelago that are windows to the past and models of modern subsistence lifestyle. The villages are not accessible by car and require careful planning if they are on your itinerary, but visitors are rewarded with a glimpse into Alaska that is seldom seen by most tourists.
