Hawaii Military Guide Summer-Fall 2025

It’s tough to deny that the North Shore is Oahu’s most scenic day trip. Even if you aren’t into diehard recreation, you’ll find ample sites cherished for historic significance and natural beauty. DILLINGHAM AIRFIELD For thrill-seekers and spectators alike, Dillingham Airfield offers incredible ways to experience Oahu’s beauty from above. The airfield provides a launching point for sky divers and gliders, with breathtaking views of the Waianae Mountains, North Shore and the Leeward coastline. Watch engine-free gliders and skydivers descend gracefully. Or if you’re feeling adventurous, try skydiving yourself! Skydive Hawaii has been locally owned and operated since 1984. They offer a military discount of $20 off a standard 14,000 foot jump. WAIMEA BAY & VALLEY During winter, Waimea Bay becomes a hotspot for watching surfers tackle massive waves. In the calmer summer months, it’s ideal for swimming, sunbathing and paddleboarding. Many visitors gather around Jumping Rock to watch thrill-seekers take the plunge into the bay’s waters. Across the road, the Waimea Valley historic site is dedicated to preserving Hawaiian culture. Visitors can wander along scenic trails through acres of conservation land and botanical gardens. At the end of the main path, a waterfall awaits where you can take a refreshing dip. The valley offers daily cultural and botanical tours, a gift shop with unique finds and military discounts.
