DOLE PLANTATION Just past Wahiawa’s center, Dole Plantation offers a complete pineapple experience. BOTANICAL GARDENS AND BIRTHING STONES Wahiawa boasts a pair of Oahu’s most sacred treasures. The 27-acre Wahiawa Botanical Garden is “a tropical jewel” with Hawaiian palms, trees, ferns, and native plants. Just north of Wahiawa’s center, Kūkaniloko Birthstones State Monument (Kamehameha Highway at Whitmore Avenue) is a five-acre parcel amid pineapple fields with historic and sacred birthstones. These stones mark the spot where female alii gave birth. FISHING FARMS HAWAII Although located in central Oahu, Wahiawa has unexpected places to hook a bounty of fish! Alii Agricultural Farms presents Fishing Farms Hawaii, home to ponds stocked with tilapia, catfish and prawns. Rent a bamboo pole for an easy “catch of the day”. The wheelchair accessible spot offers on-the-spot fish cleaning.
