Pearl City 236 PEARL CITY In 1899, the United States Navy established the Pearl Harbor base which later gained global recognition for the Dec. 7, 1941 attack by Japanese Empirical Bombers. This infamous action swept across Oahu as it destroyed 21 vessels from the U.S. Pacific Fleet and propelling the U.S. to participate in World War II. In 2010, Pearl Harbor joined Hickam Air Force Base to create Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam. EXPLORE PEARL HIGHLANDS CENTER Located off Pearl City’s main thoroughfare of Kamehameha Highway, Pearl Highlands Center is a must-stop destination for entertainment, dining and everyday needs. TOUR PEARL HARBOR One of Oahu’s top tourist attractions, Pearl Harbor is a place to connect with national, international and personal histories of World War II in the Pacific. TICKET TIPS Pearl Harbor National Memorial is free to visit, although a $1 service charge is collected by Recreation.gov to reserve tickets to the USS Arizona Memorial and the Ford Island Bus Tour. Regardless of age, all visitors to the USS Arizona Memorial and Ford Island must have a timed ticket. RESERVATIONS: Visit Recreation.gov to reserve your spot for the USS Arizona Memorial program and the Ford Island bus tour. A printed or digital copy of the reservation ticket will be scanned at check in along with your ID. It is recommended that you arrive one hour prior to the scheduled ticket time. Reservations and tickets are not required to enter the Pearl Harbor Visitor Center, Pearl Harbor National Memorial, walk the grounds or visit the museums. The Pacific Fleet Submarine Museum, Battleship Missouri and Pearl Harbor Aviation Museum are non-profit entities that charge admission fees and have separate ticketing. PEARL HARBOR TOURING TIPS Reserve your free tickets to the USS Arizona, USS Oklahoma and USS Utah Memorials at maximum eight-weeks in advance at Recreation.gov. Purses, backpacks, camera bags, diaper bags and any other concealed container are prohibited on the USS Arizona Memorial. Place any necessary items into a clear plastic bag. A storage facility is available in the Pearl Harbor Visitor Center for a small fee. Parking is also available at the Pearl Harbor Visitor Center for a small fee. Keep in mind that no restrooms are available on the USS Arizona Memorial. Go address your needs accordingly. Military visitors can wear civilian clothing when touring, or visitors in uniform must dress as Class “B” or better for access to the USS Arizona Memorial. 1 2
