54 Hawaii Parent March/April 2026 SUMMER AT KCS SUMMER AT KCS KAIMUKICHRISTIANSCHOOL.ORG An enriching six-week summer program for K-8th grade students June 8 - July 17 Hawaii Youth Opera Chorus Hawaii Youth Opera Chorus (HYOC) offers an annual summer youth opera intensive that welcomes students entering grades 5–12 to develop performance skills in singing, drama, and stagecraft in a fun, supportive environment. Participants receive daily instruction in healthy vocal technique, music theory, aural training, and acting, and help create props, costumes, and sets as part of their training. All roles are performed by student participants, and the program culminates in public performances for friends, family, and the community. HYOC has a long-standing tradition of producing youth operas and fostering music education through performance experiences that celebrate choral and theatrical arts. Kaimuki Christian Summer is just around the corner, and our students can’t wait to have fun! Kaimuki Christian School (KCS) offers an educational and interactive summer program, rooted in biblical values, quality academics, and wholesome development of children at all levels. Students from all schools are welcome, kindergarten through grade 8, from June 8 – July 17. Preschool enrollment is limited to current KCS students or students enrolled for the fall. Students experience an engaging learning environment from 8 – 11:30 a.m., keeping their academic skills sharp over the summer. For preschool, we emphasize school readiness, and for elementary and middle school, we focus on strengthening math and language skills. From 11:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m., we enjoy some summer excitement! Students enjoy age-appropriate activities that combine learning and fun, including weekly excursions. Elementary students select from activities that include archery, cooking, crafts, coding, dance, science, and much more. Adventure awaits middle school students as they enjoy a range of outdoor activities, from hiking and beach excursions to sports and community service projects.
