46 Hawaii Parent March/April 2026 Roy Sakuma Ukulele Studios Each summer, Roy Sakuma Ukulele Studios welcomes students from preschoolers to teens (Pre-K–Grade 12) to explore the joy of music through ukulele lessons in a fun, supportive environment. Based on the legendary Roy Sakuma Method — a playfirst approach that gets beginners strumming real songs quickly — these programs build confidence, creativity, and a love for Hawaii’s iconic instrument. With locations across Oahu and skilled instructors who inspire all ages, summer at Roy Sakuma is where music and aloha meet. Hanahauoli This summer, Hanahauoli School offers enriching learning opportunities at its Manoa campus for children entering Junior Kindergarten through Grade 4, running June 15–July 17, with morning-only and whole-day options available. Rooted in Hanahauoli’s integrated, thematic teaching approach, classes are designed by creative educators to help children explore their interests and discover new talents. Learning experiences weave together language arts, math, science, social studies, philosophy, technology, andvisual and performing arts. This summer’s theme, “Hauoli Days at the School That Loves You Back!”, brings students together in collaborative, multi-age classrooms grouped by entering grade levels. A week-long Discovering STEAM Summer Camp for grades K–4 will run July 20–24, and the returning Skills We Need program supports literacy and math development for public school students, with tuition waived for qualifi ed participants.
