At 7:31am a text came in from Pastor Mike to Director Fudge, “The church and preschool buildings are flooded.” The preschool had been closed for Spring Break and was preparing to welcome students back on March 23. Instead, nearly two feet of floodwater had moved through the campus overnight. Toys floated through classrooms. Rugs, cabinets, books, learning materials, and classroom furniture were soaked and destroyed. Over a foot of water covered the floors, and the classrooms that had once been full of laughter and learning were left soaked and ruined. For the first time in the school’s known history, the preschool had flooded. The devastation was overwhelming, but almost immediately, so was the love and support from the community. Before anyone even had time to fully process the damage, people began showing up. Parents called asking how they could help. Teachers came in ready to clean and rebuild.
