Lōkahi is offering two professional development workshops this summer for Hawaii educators. The foundational Level 1: Introduction to Ukulele & Lyric Writing is coming to the Big Island for the first time. Lōkahi teaches music and non-music educators ukulele basics and creative lyric writing, connecting these skills to student health and wellbeing. An advanced songwriting and classroom management workshop is also available on Oahu for teachers who completed Level 1 last year. Both are designed to increase access to music during the school day for keiki across Hawaii. Lōkahi also just released a free new song lesson in our song library! Lōkahi’s growing Song Library brings the music of Hawaii’s most beloved artists into the classroom. Each lesson, developed in close collaboration with the artist, includes everything a teacher needs to guide students of all ukulele levels through the song. Lōkahi features artists like Paula Fuga, Honoka, Eddie Kamae, and Kimié’s newly released “Proud as the Sun.” Visit the Free Resources section at lokahi.podia.com to access these lessons and all of Lōkahi’s free teacher resources. 114 Hawaii Parent July/August 2026
