26 HAWAII PARENT July/August 2025 ANNUAL FLORAL PARADE September 27 Join the vibrant celebration of Hawaiian culture at the Aloha Festivals’ 77th Annual Floral Parade on Saturday, September 27, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. The colorful procession winds from Ala Moana Park along Kalākaua Avenue to Kapi‘olani Park, featuring stunning floats adorned with fresh flowers, graceful pā‘ū riders on horseback, marching bands, hālau hula, and community leaders showcasing the aloha spirit. Spectators are encouraged to find a spot near the grandstands at Ala Moana Park, Prince Waikiki, Royal Hawaiian Center, or Moana Surfrider to enjoy the narrated parade experience. For those at home, the excitement will also be available through a live broadcast and livestream presented by KHON. Don’t miss this spectacular finale to the Aloha Festivals. ONGOING NATIVE HAWAIIAN PLANT TOUR WAIKIKI AQUARIUM Embark on a guided tour of the Aquarium’s native Hawaiian plant gardens with volunteer Alice Roberts. Discover 16 highlighted plants and their significance. Or obtain a comprehensive plant guide book from the Waikīkī Aquarium’s Volunteer Office or print a Hawaiian Plant Guide map from the Aquarium’s website for a self-guided tour. GUIDED TOUR HO’OMALUHIA BOTANICAL GARDEN Located in Kaneohe, Oahu, Ho’omaluhia Botanical Garden spans 400 acres of lush rainforest which includes a 32-acre lake and multiple scenic walking trails. Join a 90-minute guided tour of the garden offered on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays at 10:30 a.m., rain or shine. KAMAʻAINA SUNDAYS FAMILY HUI It takes a village to raise a child and a Hui to raise a parent. Family Hui works to support and encourage families to meet the challenges of raising children to ensure all children are thriving, healthy, and safe. Family Hui offers peer-led neighborhood groups and virtual “Parent Cafe” drop-in sessions that parents can join from home.
