Windward Oahu - Kaneohe 284 SCOPE OUT SHOPPING CENTERS Kaneohe has unique shopping – with lots of small local shops as well as U.S. Mainland chains. Within the shopping centers, entertainment – for keiki and adults – as well as a number of diverse eateries can be explored for days on end. Windward Mall (46-056 Kamehameha Highway windwardmall.com) is one of Oahu’s premier shopping malls. This enclosed mall features an array of stores, a movie theater and more. Regular farmers markets and a great food court also add to the mall’s appeal. Be on the lookout for new merchants at this mall, as it always seems to be evolving. Kaneohe Bay Shopping Center (46-047 Kamehameha Highway kaneohebayshoppingcenter.com) has a Long’s Drugs, Safeway, Petco, a variety of restaurants and more. The central Kaneohe location makes it extra convenient. Windward City Shopping Center (45-480 Kaneohe Bay Drive windwardcity.com) also seems to always be evolving. This center has a broad selection of merchants – from apparel to beauty to a gym and grocery store. There is also a Satellite City Hall, taking care of paperwork for cars and taxes, for example. PLAY AT THE PARK A day can easily be spent in one of Kaneohe’s prestigious parks – whether walking through tropical foliage, camping, kayaking or BBQing with friends and family. In central Kaneohe, the 400-acre Ho‘omaluhia Botanical Garden (45-680 Luluku Rd www.honolulu.gov/parks/hbg) rests in the shadows of the Koolau The lush scenery of Hoomaluhia Botanical Gardens spanning 400 acres is surrounded by the Koolau Mountain Range. Visitors will require at least an hour or two, and hikers usually spend half a day here. 2 3
