Hawai Military Guide - Winter-Spring 2025

Health Care 160 Member Program (EFMP) through the sponsor’s branch of service. Enrollment in the EFMP may be waived, for example, when the sponsor’s branch of service does not provide the EFMP, or when the beneficiary resides with the custodial parent who is not the active duty sponsor. Note that the qualifying family member’s disability must be entered properly in DEERS to have access to ECHO services. Contact your regional contractor for more information. You may register for ECHO with case managers in each TRICARE region. To check for eligibility, visit Tricare.mil/Plans/SpecialPrograms/ECHO. Or call (844) 524-3578. TRICARE YOUNG ADULT Military dependents concerned about health care coverage may be eligible for TRICARE Young Adult (TYA). Based on the sponsor’s status and dependent’s geographic location, TYA Prime or TYA Select coverage includes medical and pharmacy benefits, but excludes dental coverage. For details on this option for unmarried, young adult dependents aged out of regular TRICARE coverage at age 21 (or up to age 23 if enrolled in college), visit Tricare.mil/Plans/Enroll/TYA. Also visit Tricare.mil/chcbp for details on the Continued Health Care Benefit Program that provides temporary health coverage for 18-36 months when you lose eligibility for TRICARE. HOW TO ENROLL You have three options for enrolling into TRICARE plans. Update your home address, email address or phone number(s) by: • Logging in at milConnect (MilConnect.dmdc.osd.mil/milconnect) • Calling (800) 538-9552 • Faxing or mailing your changes Be sure to download a TRICARE Enrollment form on BWE’s MilConnect or at Tricare.mil/Plans/Enroll and mailing to the address on the form. Visit tricare.mil/Plans/Eligibility/DEERS for more details. You can also use a Common Access Card or Defense Self-Service Logon (DS Logon) to log in. UPCOMING–LIMITATIONS TO TRICARE SELF-SERVICE ENROLLMENT Beginning on October 28th through December 31st, you can only use milConnect if you are not currently enrolled in a TRICARE health plan. To change your current or future health plan during this time, please contact your TRICARE regional contractor for assistance. BENEFICIARY WEB ENROLLMENT TRICARE’s Beneficiary Web Enrollment (BWE) site (Tricare.mil/BWE) allows TRICARE sponsors to manage medical and dental enrollments, and update DEERS information anytime online. Online enrollment is subject to Military Treatment Facility (MTF) guidelines. When in doubt, call your local TRICARE Service Center. Beneficiaries need a sponsor’s valid Common Access Card (CAC), a Defense Financial and Accounting Services (DFAS) myPay PIN or DS logon–an account set up for eligible family members age 18 and older by their active duty sponsor. Visit idco.dmdc.osd.mil/idco. Again, be sure to update your DEERS record as soon as any information changes or if you or a family member has a Qualifying Life Event as described in the fact sheet available at Tricare.mil/Publications/Fact-Sheets. Note that Tricare Open Season runs from Nov. 11-Dec.10, 2024. Please visit TRICARE’S Open Season page at Tricare.mil/OpenSeason. Here, those already enrolled in TRICARE Prime may transfer enrollment to a new location, view current enrollment information, request a new program enrollment card or update personal information in DEERS to ensure smooth claims processing. You may also request a new PCM that is subject to local military treatment facility approval, naturally. TRICARE SERVICE CENTER Your local TRICARE Service Center is also available to explain the differences
