Youth Education 102 LEADERSHIP IN DISABILITIES AND ACHIEVEMENT OF HAWAII Leadership in Disabilities & Achievement of Hawaii (LDAH) is a nonprofit that serves parents and families with children with or at risk of disabilities as well as the professionals that serve them across the state of Hawaii and the Pacific Islands. Our mission is to enhance educational, work and life opportunities for children and youth with or at risk of disabilities. We serve families of children of all ages (birth to 26) and all disabilities (physical, cognitive, behavioral, and emotional) by providing a variety of services, including one-on-one support and assistance, workshops, publications and online resources. As Hawaii’s Parent Training and Information Center, LDAH can provide useful information for parents of children with an IEP that may be relocating. For more information, visit LDAHawaii.org. YMCA PRESCHOOL At the Y, we’re not just a daycare! Through YMCA’s Preschool and Early Learning Programs, children experience a nurturing environment where teachers build upon their strengths to develop self-confidence and social and emotional skills while fostering enjoyment in activities that support physical development. Our part-day early learning enrichment program for children ages 3 to 5 years old is designed to help toddlers transition from a home care setting to formal preschool. We also offer a full day preschool program for ages 2 to 5 at YMCA Leeward Preschool and YMCA Pali Nu'uanu Preschool, providing exciting learning opportunities that nurture cognitive, socialemotional, physical and creative development to ensure each child is well prepared to enter school.
