www.AlaskaMiners.org 29 AMA Board Members: Juneau & Haines Juneau Rochelle Lindley Rochelle Lindley is the Manager of Community and Government Affairs for Coeur Alaska’s Kensington Mine. Rochelle joined Coeur Alaska in 2020 and brought with her a wealth of varied communications, PR, and community engagement expertise from both the public and private sector. A born and raised Alaskan and graduate of the University of Alaska Southeast, she is passionate about supporting the unique communities of Alaska. Rochelle lives in Juneau where she spends her time enjoying and exploring the Last Frontier. Rochelle also serves on the board of Alaska Metal Mines and the Resource Development Council. Cory Ortiz Dr. Cory Ortiz is the Dean of the School of Career Education at the University of Alaska Southeast. As Dean, Cory serves as the chief academic officer, oversees Career Education faculty and staff, and provides guidance to the Technical Education Center in Juneau. Programs Cory oversees include heavy-duty diesel, which has an emphasis on mine mechanics. Cory comes from a family of miners. His father and grandfather both worked at Kennecott Utah Copper for the duration of their careers. Cory, and his Alaska-born wife and two canine companions, love the outdoors and find every opportunity they can to enjoy hunting and fishing. Jesse Walker Jesse is Senior Manager, Supply Chain for Coeur Mining, responsible for major procurement support at Coeur’s properties in the US, Canada, and Mexico. Jesse started with Coeur at the Kensington Mine in 2012, also working at Coeur’s Silvertip Mine in British Columbia before joining the corporate team in 2020. Prior to his career in mining, he worked in construction in Juneau. In addition to AMA’s board, Jesse holds a seat on the Juneau-Douglas Advisory Committee to the Alaska Boards of Fish and Game and serves on the board of the Juneau Shooting Sports Foundation. When he’s not at his desk, he can usually be found on his boat pursuing king salmon in the waters around Juneau. Haines Chairman Jan Hill A lifelong resident of Haines, she’s a past mayor of the Southeast Alaska community and a self-described community servant who advocates passionately for resource development of all kinds to benefit Southeast Alaska in general and Haines in particular She’s a past board member of the Southeast Conference and a current member of the Alaska Alcohol Beverages Commission. Vice Chair Liz Cornejo Liz is a mineral exploration business professional with an M.Sc. in earth science and 17 years of experience on Alaskan projects. She operates Hi-Viz Consulting and Services LLC from Haines and helped re-establish the local AMA chapter in 2016. Liz is also a board member of Southeast Conference, the regional economic development organization based in Juneau. Away from the office, Liz enjoys painting, adventuring, and playing snare drum in the Haines Marching Band. Ann Quinlan Ann moved to Haines in 1962 from Georgia and worked for many years as a schoolteacher. Several of her past students and children of her past students now work in the Southeast mines making a good living for their families. Ann’s late husband, Tom, was an early investor with Merrill Palmer on the Palmer Project and he collected memorabilia from the Porcupine Creek mining district of Haines. Ann has an antique Porcupine gold scale for sale if you are interested! Ann is interested in responsible mining and has regularly attended Haines Chapter breakfast meetings since they started in 2016. She is an active community volunteer and would like to see a mine developed in Haines if it can be done right. Ann looks forward to learning more about the mining industry and contributing as a new board member. James Sage James Sage was born and raised in Haines. He still lives there and raised a daughter and two sons there. He started work on the North Slope right out of high school, then spent a decade working for the Department of Transportation and then 14 years working at Greens Creek Mine in Southeast Alaska.
