The Alaska Miner - Spring 2024

The Alaska Miner Spring 2024 28 Juneau Chairman Jason Hart I have been a Contract Administrator for Hecla Greens Creek Mining Company for the last eight years and have been with the company in different roles since 2007. Responsible for contracts for services, equipment, and infrastructure. I have been on the AMA board as a Director for Juneau since 2016. Helping people understand the positives of responsible mining is a big individual goal. I have a son Liam who is currently a sophomore at Thunder Mountain High School in Juneau. Outside of work I enjoy traveling to somewhere warmer than Juneau in the winter. I’ve coached youth baseball since 2009 from Little League, Travel Ball, and currently an assistant coach for Thunder Mountain High School Baseball. I also spend time during the fishing season teaching fellow Juneau AMA board member Jesse Walker all the tips and tricks of king salmon fishing. Jim Clark Jim Clark grew up in a military family. He attended the first grade in Anchorage. He also lived in Japan for three years during his childhood. Clark served in the JAG Corp of the US Army. He spent 30 years as an attorney at Robertson, Monagle & Eastaugh Law Firm, where he represented the timber industry in Southeast Alaska, among other things. For their efforts to keep the capitol in Juneau, the Juneau Chamber of Commerce named Mayor Bill Overstreet and him “Persons of the Year” in 1982. From 2002 to 2006 he served as Chief of Staff to Governor Frank Murkowski. As Chief of Staff he directed the preparation of the State budget; oversaw the preparation of legislation; negotiated the budget and legislation with the Legislature; worked with the Governor and departmental commissioners to formulate policy. He also managed Governor’s cabinet and served as the State’s chief gas pipeline negotiator and successfully negotiated a draft contract between the Governor and the North Slope oil producers to construct a gas pipeline. Prior to his appointment as Chief-of-Staff in 2002 he represented Greens Creek Mine near Juneau, Alaska, Fairbanks Gold Mine near Fairbanks, Alaska, and Pogo Mine near Delta Junction, Alaska. Currently Clark works as an attorney and manages his law firm in Juneau. He is Alaska counsel for Constantine Mining LLC’s Palmer Project in Haines, Alaska. As an active community volunteer, he is Chair of a Donor Advisory Committee of the Juneau Community Foundation. He is Chair of the Alaska Miners Association’s Juneau Branch, a member of the Alaska Miners Association Executive Committee, and a board member of Wostmann and Associates. Clark received his BA in History, Literature and Philosophy from Johns Hopkins University, his Juris Doctor from Cornell Law School, and his LLM in Environmental Law from George Washington University. He is married to Susan Clark. They live in Juneau, Alaska and have two daughters and two grandsons. Kyle Beebe With almost 27 years in the mining industry, I've journeyed from working in Nevada's Jerritt Canyon to managerial roles in Alaska, including a rich 13-year chapter with Barrick's Meikle, Rodeo and Betze-Post mines, followed by a transformative 13 years with Kensington, owned by Coeur Alaska throughout Technical Services, Operations, and Management roles. I'm currently embracing my next milestone as the Technical Services Manager at Hecla's Greens Creek Mine. Outside work, I find balance in life’s little adventures, from metal and woodworking projects, construction, and tinkering to joyful explorations in reading, computers, and nature amidst Alaska's unique outdoors with my family between bouts of “liquid sunshine.” Frank Bergstrom BS Geology University of Washington.
