The Rotary Club of Sunriver-La Pine offers community members opportunities to learn, build friendships, volunteer in the community, and participate in fundraising events. As part of an international service organization founded more than 110 years ago, the local club joins 1.2 million people across the globe to fulfill Rotary’s vision of taking action to create positive lasting change in the world. International projects include those that promote peace, fight disease, provide clean water, and protect the environment. A major ongoing campaign is to eradicate polio around the world. Projects in South Deschutes County focus on assisting students pursue a higher education; providing local nonprofits with funds to continue helping seniors and low-income families; and distributing materials and funds for programs in preschools, primary and middle schools. Club meetings are held weekly and feature speakers such as directors of local nonprofits; business leaders; legal, health, and education professionals; and others who share information of interest to the community.
