Linger for a family piano concert or a holiday gathering, and you can carry those stools over to the adjacent living or dining room as extra seating. Sheila Kramer, principal of Sheila Kramer Interiors, says the paint had just dried on their recent remodel when a couple with four young ones found their new “forever” home. Before their purchase, she walked through with them to determine whether the 8,000-square-footer suited. “I really love being involved at that stage because it helps kickstart everything with energy and excitement,” the designer says. Sheila helped the couple envision two things—a home growing up with their family through the kids’ high school years, and a welcoming place for their “open door” policy. For the first challenge, they needed a room for every child and storage throughout the home, while rendering it all family- and pet-friendly.
