Hello there! I’m Aberdeen, named for a port city on the northeast coast of Scotland, but you can call me Abby. As a five-yearold golden retriever who’s something of a golden girl, people naturally gravitate to me when I enter the room. And I don’t mind it one bit! Born in Escondido, I met Lynne and her son Sam when I was just a tiny pup only a few weeks old. They drove me to my new home in Menlo Park and I’ve been the life of the party ever since. In fact, Sam requests my presence whenever he’s hosting a gathering—I’m always a big hit in a group of happy people. I aberdeen DIARY OF A DOG photography by ROBB MOST particularly enjoy it when they tell me that I’m the prettiest girl in the room. When I’m not holding court with my human admirers, I adore heading out for a hike. (Hamms Gulch Trail at Windy Hill Open Space Preserve is a particular favorite.) My family sometimes doesn’t respect my unerring sense of where to go when we’re out. I love them, but sometimes they choose the wrong direction or keep me on-leash when I want to run free. That’s when I have to insist—by staging a onedog sit-in. They always come around to my way of thinking eventually and realize that I’m right!
